Book Review – Before I go to sleep by S.J. Watson

‘Highly captivating’, ‘Exciting’, ‘Unputdownable’, ‘Creepy’- These are the words that I would use to describe the book. I highly recommend this book to all the thriller/mystery readers or just anyone who is interested in reading. Watson has written this book in a manner so compelling that it becomes difficult for the reader to put the book down. This book has a lot of plot twists that will make sure you stay glued to it and keep you hooked till the end.
The story begins with Christine waking up and not remembering her past (Not even what she did yesterday!) She still thinks that she is in her twenties when she is actually in her forties! Her husband, Ben, is a stranger to her. He has to remind her about her past everyday when she wakes up. She learns from her husband that she met with an accident in her twenties and that is the reason she can’t remember anything from around that time or even before that time. Later that day, she learns that she has been consulting a doctor without her husband knowing about it. The doctor (Dr. Nash) gives her a diary where she has made a record of each day and of the sudden flashbacks that she gets. After reading her diary, she is not sure if Ben, her husband, is trustworthy. Why is he not telling her everything about her past? Is it because he doesn’t want her to remember something? Or is it because he is trying to protect himself? Read the book to find out.
I truly enjoyed reading this book from the beginning till the end. This is the kind of book that will make your hands sweat and go numb! I give this book a rating of 3.5 out of 5
