DJ-ACM constantly strives to provide opportunities to students. We have had an incredible term in 2021 with several great events. Post the first update, here’s what we’ve been upto!
Lines of Code 3.0
The ACM Student Chapter of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering organised the third iteration of it’s annual 24-hour Hackathon called “Lines Of Code” (LOC) on 20th and 21st March, 2021. Teams of developers participate to generate high-value actionable business ideas and product concepts.The event helps boost innovation to solve problems and further promotes idea-sharing, and effective collaboration, because of enthusiasm towards a shared goal. The main aim was to help students work together to solve real-life problems with unique solutions in a stipulated period of time. They had to show their creativity, speed, endurance and coordination in order to solve the problem and win the contest.
With registrations from all across India, the participants had to compete rigorously at the National level to win LOC with prizes worth Rs.4 Lakhs at stake. Every team consisted of 2 to 4 people registered through the Devfolio platform. Teams were shortlisted for participating in LOC 2021 based on their profile. The problem statements were taken from diverse domains such as Web & App, ML/AI, IOT, Blockchain, etc. and were released a few hours prior to the event, on 19th March.
The participant’s preferences were taken into consideration and final allotment of topics were given at 10:30am on 20th March, at the LOC inauguration. DJ-ACM provided mentoring throughout the hackathon with two dedicated mentoring sessions on 20th March, one at 2:30pm and other at 9:30pm. The teams had to work on problem statements related to real world Business cases that were selected to challenge the coders to build practical and relevant solutions.
On day two, the final submissions were to be made at 11:30 AM on DevFolio– exactly after a day’s coding period. The top teams were selected for the first judging round and were invited to present their industry-grade projects. Each team was allotted 15minutes where they were expected to demonstrate their project and answer questions. After shortlisted teams were announced, the second judging round began after a break of 15 minutes. The teams selected were expected to present a PowerPoint Presentation to the panel of judges.
The judging panel included Mr Ketan Patil (from Here Technologies), Mr Deekshant Saxena (from Here Technologies), Mrs Suman Patni (from NIC), Mr Adnyesh Dalpati (from Ergodesoft) and Mr Ajay Khankhoje (from Synergetics). After the rigorous 24hours of LOC hackathon and 2 judging rounds, the winners were declared with Team Codex securing the 1st Position, Team Laxmi Chit Fund at 2nd position and Team Ingenuity at 3rd Position. The three winners took home cash prizes worth Rs.40,000 and other exciting goodies.
Internship Fair 2021
DJ-ACM organized its Annual Internship Fair (IF) on 9th and 10th of April 2021. Despite the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, the event was held virtually this year. The Internship Fair aids in the creation of a structured path from education to employment and serves as a platform for companies that are currently looking to fill both technical and/or non-technical internship positions. Registered candidates were interviewed by the company representatives virtually. The selected interns will be employed for a minimum duration of 1 month wherein they will get an opportunity to productively apply their classroom education in a real word setting.
The Internship fair welcomes on board reputed companies with commendable corporate philosophies and provides Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College students with an opportunity to get hands-on work experience. DJ-ACM has successfully organised various Internship Fairs in the past years. This year’s iteration of IF welcomed 25+ companies to provide internship opportunities in different domains to students from all the departments. These companies support DJ-ACM’s ‘learning by doing’ ethos by giving the next generation of engineers an opportunity to explore diverse domains.
