The NSS unit of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering (DJNSS) commenced on the journey of “Bringing Change Together” in the year 2010. The unit works for the all-round development of the society, wherein we try to solve various issues ranging from socioeconomic problems to the crisis caused by global warming that ails Mother Nature.
The academic year 2020-2021 has been nothing different. In such challenging times, organizing events definitely demanded an absolutely new and unique outlook towards the same problems that we have been tackling every year. We organized events such as a sapling plantation drive at home, a food donation drive, wearable and blanket donation drive, and an online voter’s registration drive. We also organized several awareness campaigns such as a blood donation awareness drive, and a broad range of webinars that focused on imbibing inspiration, motivation and inculcating a sense of healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally amongst all the students.
Apart from social growth, we also encourage various technical advancements wherever necessary and possible. We encourage the volunteers to mesh technology with the daily life of the needy, thereby inculcating a sense of oneness with the society, as a whole, in them.
Our annual camp is held in our adopted villages of Narpad and Ambewadi. Over there, we organize medical camps, beach clean-up drives, and creative workshops. We have also installed solar panel for the school, solar street lights and compost tumbler, pulleys at the public well and repaired patches of the road among other socio-welfare-related volunteering.
Due to the pandemic, this year we could not conduct our annual camp and are restricted on the events to be kept inside closed doors, yet our spirits and creativity are intact; as we highly believe that together we all hold the power to bring about a positive change irrespective of the circumstances. Standing by the motto of NSS, “Not Me But You”, we aim at organizing more events that bring great changes and spreads awareness amongst the youth of this nation to be a significant part of this bandwagon of “Help. Connect. Inspire”.
