DJS Miles
Team DJS Miles is the official Supermileage vehicle team of Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering. The team comprises of highly dedicated, multidisciplinary engineers that dream to make the most efficient electric vehicle. The team is divided into five departments – Brakes, Chassis, Electronics, Marketing and Steering; that work in harmony to build the most efficient vehicle.
Our Vision:
There is a dire need to cut down carbon emissions and curb the increasing pollution from deteriorating the environment. Research has shown that electric cars are better for the environment. They emit less greenhouse gases and air pollutants over their life than a petrol or a diesel car. Even after the production of the vehicle and the generation of the electricity required to fuel them, electric cars are much greener. In order to curb the pollution, DJS Miles contributes in research and application of some of the concepts that increase the efficiency and mileage of future road cars.
A Supermileage vehicle:
It is a single passenger energy efficient vehicle. Our goal is to increase the efficiency of an electric vehicle. Efficiency in terms of a vehicle is often associated with its mileage.

Competition:
Shell Eco-marathon:
Shell Eco-marathon is a world-wide energy efficiency competition sponsored by Shell. Participants build automotive vehicles to achieve the highest possible fuel efficiency.
There are two vehicle classes within Shell Eco-marathon: Prototype and UrbanConcept.
There are three energy categories within Shell Eco-marathon: battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and internal combustion engine (gasoline, ethanol, or diesel). In 2019, over 5,000 students from over 700 universities in 52 countries participated in Shell Eco-marathon. The digital reach of Shell Eco-marathon is approximately several million.
DJS Miles is currently participating in the battery-electric Prototype category in Shell Eco-Marathon India. Depending on our performance at the national level, we will be consequently participating at an international level in competitions such as Shell Eco Marathon Asia and SAE Supermileage (USA).

Achievements:
The team in its very first year has successfully manufactured a carbon fibre monocoque chassis.
In December 2020, the team secured its first milestone which was the Winners of Digital Literacy Award in the Pitch the Future challenge, held virtually. The team also secured the Runners-up position globally in the Long Distance Mobility category of Pitch the Future challenge.
In January 2021, the team stood 4th in the online Quiz in Asia-Pacific and Middle East region. The team also ranked 30th globally in the Autonomous Programming of the Competition.
In April 2021, in the Virtual Off-Track Awards of Shell Eco-Marathon, the team secured the 1st position in the Vehicle Design: Prototype category in Asia-Pacific and Middle East Region.
Being the debut season in the Shell Eco-Marathon Competition, DJS Miles currently stands 13th Globally and 5th in Asia-Pacific and Middle East Region on the Leaderboard Table.
